We are excited to welcome back our returning students and to greet our new arrivals. The 2014/2015 academic year introduces a few changes at the Library. We have reconfigured our first floor space to provide more room for study, meetings, and collaborations. Our print collections are primarily located on the lower and upper levels of the library. Please don’t let the open floor plan concern you, we still have a lot of books!
You may also notice our first floor gallery is completed and has been quite successful. We have had the opportunity to show the work of students, alumni, and contributing faculty. We will be presenting our fifth exhibition this September, and our sixth in October. There are still spaces available for Spring 2015, so please come in and speak with us if your are interested in showing your work or curating a show.
Fall 2014 will also see the reformation of Library Instruction programming. We will be embedding instruction into first year composition courses and offering advanced research sessions across disciplines. We are very happy to be collaborating with our faculty to help our students develop the scholarship and information literacy skills they need to achieve academic success.
In addition to in Library instruction, class visits by Librarians will also be available as a way to introduce students to Library resources and the new website. We are here to support the entire Santa Fe University of Art and Design community and encourage both faculty and students to take advantage of our services and resources.
Reference services are also being offered by appointment, drop-in, or email consultation. Your reference Librarian is an art and research fiend, so please take advantage of her enthusiasm for what you are studying. There is little she likes more than finding you resources for your scholarship (it is why she became a librarian after all). This goes out to both students and faculty, please feel welcome to stop by anytime.
We are here when you need us and we wish you a great start to your academic year!
